Axolotl has white fungus on gills?

  •   Hello, I’ve had my axie Wooper for 3 years now and just yesterday I spotted a strange small bit of white fungus on his right gill. I believe this was caused by the increase in warm weather and thus making his tank water too warm. I usually had a cooling probe to prevent this but it broke (I however plugged it back in to try to fix it after i noticed this strange fungus and what do you know...it started working). I wasn’t able to go grab kosher salt due to the stores being closed but I did do a large water change (50%). While he was in his separate container away from his tank I fed him to check his appetite and his appetite is still as great as ever, he also is still quite active. A majority of the fungus also fell off during his time in the separate container and I was able to rub some off with a q-tip, but there was still a tiny bit that was still clinging on tightly. Checking on him this morning it seems that the clinging bit has lessened but isn’t gone completely. I suppose my question is: Should I give him a salt bath still? Or should I wait and see if this will heal naturally? Ive never done a salt bath for him before and I'm terrified to put him through that.
