Axolotl City is free to read. This page explains, plainly, how the site makes money so you can weigh our recommendations with that in mind. We publish it because Canadian and US consumer-protection rules (the Competition Bureau's guidance on influencer and affiliate marketing, and the US FTC's Endorsement Guides) require that any "material connection" between a publisher and a product it recommends be disclosed clearly — and because we'd rather you know anyway.
Amazon Associates
As an Amazon Associate, Axolotl City earns from qualifying purchases. Some links in our Marketplace and Resource Centre point to Amazon.com or Amazon.ca. If you click one and buy something — that product or anything else in the same session — Amazon pays us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you had gone to Amazon directly.
Our relationship with A Lot'l Axolotls
Axolotl City and A Lot'l Axolotls are sister brands under common ownership. When we link to A Lot'l's axolotls, house-brand food, or community, that is a link to a business we own — not an independent third-party recommendation. We say this on the Marketplace and About pages too, and we repeat it here so there is no ambiguity.
Other affiliate programs and breeders
From time to time we may join other affiliate programs or agree referral arrangements with breeders or retailers listed in our Marketplace. Where a link earns us a commission or referral fee, it is an affiliate link and this disclosure applies to it. Where a listing is paid for or sponsored, we label it as such on the page.
What this does not change
- We do not accept payment to write a positive review or to alter the substance of a care guide.
- Commissions never raise the price you pay.

How to spot an affiliate link
Marketplace product links, "Shop" buttons, and any link to Amazon should be assumed to be affiliate links. Links to A Lot'l Axolotls are links to our sister company. Editorial links inside articles to sources, studies, or other hobby sites are not affiliate links unless labelled.
